AQUACULTURE: FARMING THE WATERS

Temporary Exhibit: June 4, 2026 – October 18, 2026

Discover how Canadians farm fish, shellfish, and seaweed in oceans, lakes, and land-based environments. On loan from Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation, Aquaculture: Farming the Waters explores the people, technologies, and innovations behind Canada’s aquaculture industry.

Through interactive games and hands-on activities, visitors can test their skills as a fish farmer, learn about Indigenous aquaculture practices, and meet Canadian producers raising salmon, oysters, and kelp. The exhibition also examines the challenges and opportunities facing aquaculture and highlights how research and traditional knowledge are helping build a more sustainable future.

Accessible and engaging for all ages, the exhibition includes an audio tour with visual descriptions and navigation assistance.

En prêt de Ingenium – Les musées Canadien de science et innovation, Aquaculture: L’agriculture de l’eau explorent les peuples, technologies et innovations arriere l’industrie d’aquaculture Canadien.

Grâce à des jeux interactifs et des activités pratiques, les visiteurs peuvent s’essayer au métier d’aquaculteur, découvrir les pratiques aquacoles autochtones et rencontrer des producteurs canadiens qui élèvent du saumon, des huîtres et du varech. L’exposition examine également les défis et les opportunités auxquels est confrontée l’aquaculture et met en lumière la manière dont la recherche et les savoirs traditionnels contribuent à bâtir un avenir plus durable.

Join us from 12-2pm every day for some science magic!  Learn about the fascinating things that make up the world around us from seaweed to ice cream. Through hands-on experiments visitors can see the importance of aquaculture and what it produces. Perfect for all ages, you won’t want to miss it!
